Local artist crafts giant sweetgrass basket for SC museum
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina State Museum unveiled Thursday morning what is believed to be the largest sweetgrass basket ever created. The hands and heart behind the 5-foot-tall and 5-foot-wide basket is renowned Gullah Geechee artist and Mount Pleasant native Corey Alston. The sweetgrass basket was named „Big Percy.”
