Missing 9/11 artifact returned to Decatur Park District
DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) – In 2024, teenagers vandalized Decatur’s September 11th Memorial and stole an artifact that was recovered from Ground Zero, according to the police department. It had been missing ever since. In November, it was found thanks to dropping water levels in Lake Decatur.
