Hattiesburg celebrates opening of Oseola McCarty House as museum
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WHLT) – The City of Hattiesburg celebrated the opening of the Oseola McCarty House, the home, turned museum, of former washerwoman and nationally recognized philanthropist Oseola McCarty. In 1995, McCarty donated $150,000, which was the majority of life savings, to provide scholarships for students at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM).
